I’m working on a tool pack of WordPress Plugins to optimize the performance of websites running on WordPress as their CMS platform. So far I have about 20. They range from ones providing ways for admins to interact with visitors, to database administering and management, to pages and CMS response optimization. Of course, I can’t forget to include SEO plugins, there are about 5 of them on my list.

Few minutes ago I finished a layout update project for a client of Innovadix. Someone I used to freelance for since 2006, who’s now a client of my company. I’m offering all of my freelance services through my company now – web design, web development, hosting and server management.

Earlier today I made some changes to the current theme code on thetitan blog. My goal is to optimize the code, so the page loads faster, but I also want to optimize the page layout – content positioning, colors, advertisement placement, text links and any other page components.

I don’t know why Internet Explorer doesn’t have a build in spell checker, instead of having to install ieSpell as an add-on. Every other browser has a spell checker build into it and it spell checks as you type. I suppose ieSpell is OK, but it would be nice to not have to go through the extra step of manually running it. It needs a code update, but looking at the about it looks like it hasn’t been updated since 2006!!

I installed a new theme at the lifestream archive site today. There are few issues with it. I will have to work on them this weekend. I’m too tired to do it right now. It’s time for bed as is.

According to this TechCrunch article, Facebook.com has stopped using rounded corners in its page design. Funny, I do not recall ever noticing any rounded corners in its design, or if I did, then they must have not been all over the place. I supposed also visiting the site only once or twice per week is also contributing to the lack of my awareness regarding rounded corners in Facebook’s layout design.

Either IE8 doesn’t like Kontera, or the Kontera script crashes when it’s begin loaded by IE8. Either way I’ve had to remove it from my blog. But there is something that is clashing with both only on that site, because IE8 loads the Kontera script just fine on the rest of the sites1

I’m about to test PubSubHubbub for WordPress. It seems like a technology with great potential.

Amanda is starting to learn php and MySQL. She needs something more visual than notepad, which is what I use, to learn coding and make sense of it. So, now I’m looking for a web based php editor. So far I have found phpanywhere.net

it’s interesting to watch how after returning the bogus requests from one IP, the traffic from it stops and then starts again from one or two other IPs.

My domain parking and SEO project has been suffering under some weak DOS attacks. At first I decided to block the requests at the firewall, but today I decided to simply redirect the request, via htaccess, to the originating source.

I feel that optimizing the content and the site layout will be enough to increase traffic to the site as well as motivate me to write articles more often!
On another note – last week I changed the theme I was using for Tzanov’s Tweets. I’ve also resolved most of the issues I was having.
