This is fantastic – Petabytes on a budget:How to build cheap cloud storage. I run storage server at home. It is not as big as this, but at the time it did cost as much as this one to build. It is amazing how much the prices have changed for custom build data servers in about 7 years.

The UPS on one of the systems at home died. I replaced it couple of night ago. In the process I restored power to couple of the cooling fans, not the system just about as laud as the server that I can hear through the wall!

I’m tankful for battery powered backup sump pump systems. We don’t have electricity this morning and it is raining. I checked on the sump pump well and it had started filling up.

The ventilation system at work went off. The silence is amazing. You don’t realize how precious and peaceful the quiet is until the noise pollution is gone. The problem is that due to all the bodies and computers here the environment becomes very hot. Oh well, it’s back on now.
